Servitors were award land. These men served in the English army during the nine year war. They were tough experienced fighters who would not be easily driven from there new lands
The Gaelic Irish were divided by the population. Those who were regarded as loyal to the king were allowed to retain their lands. Many of those who lost their land had to live as outlaws, scavenging for the food and attacking the settlers. These disposable people were nicknamed Tories
