Research
The use of interviews within various segments of their video is effective as they are rehearsed to an extent and the interviewees have an idea of what they are speaking of together within the clip.
Middlesex university utilises a number of different techniques within their games design course video. Green Screens, overlays, interviews and panning shots of students working are prominent within the entire presentations.
Target Audience
The target audience for this promotional video will be all genders and people from the age of 16, when they leave lower education, up to around 30. Due to the professional nature and the younger side of the audience, there cannot be any mature content in this video such as swearing, drugs or violence.
Final Idea
A simple video beginning with a wide angle shot outside Access. A student walks into shot and the camera begins tracking him through his journey upstairs into the college. The Access Creative College Logo and various information regarding the Games course pops up briefly on screen as the student takes his step in. The student carries on walking off as the camera leaves him and pans onto students working within the games course on their computers. Various students are seen reacting happy and interested within the work they are doing. Using a green screen the students settings shall change around them dependant and reflected upon what game design they were working upon on each computer. As the video takes a slower pace a timelapse of the students working, finishing and leaving is shown before the Access Creative College logo appearing once again displaying all the contact and basic course information necessary.
Within short cuts during the studant heading up the stairs towards the college various interview shorts shall be shown with the students speaking of positive values about the course in order to create a great vibe for the course for students wishing to take it on.
Legal Constraints
There is a few legal constraints that we will have to make sure that we do not get caught out with. These include copyright issues and clearance to use and film inside a building or piece of land.
To make sure that we avoid these, we will ensure that all shots that are used within the video are our own, and also any music/VFX used in post production will be our own or copyright/royalty free. We will be sourcing these from Youtube channels such as NCS (NoCopyrightSounds) or MrSuicideSheep who both provide royalty free music for personal and business use.
Health and safety
Some of our health and safety implications are all possible if we do not highlight them and make sure that when we are filming we make sure that the places we film are safe and do quick safety checks to lower the possible risk.
When we are filming we need to be careful about tripping hazards such as wires, equipment and tripods. We also need to be careful about electrical equipment and plug sockets so that we don’t get electric shocks. We can prevent this by double checking wires to make sure there isn’t any cable showing and make sure everything is safe to use. When we are filming and using electrical equipment such as cameras and we can’t take any liquids or drink near any equipment.
