Electrode potential
Primary cells
-
-
Low current, long storage devices
Fuel cell
Fuel + O2 flow in fuel cell
Product flows out,
Electrolyte stays in cell
-
-
-
Secondary cells
-
Lead / acid = car batteries
Nickel / cadmium or nickel / metal hydride = Radio, torches etc
Lithium ion = laptop, tablets, cameras, phones

Limitation:
- Reaction rate
electrode potential only tell you about the feasibility and not the rate of reaction
- Concentration
concentration has to be 1 mol dm^-3 to determine standard cell potential otherwise the equilbrium will shift.
1 = shift right = less negative electrode potential
<1 = shifts left = more negative electrode potential
- Not in standard conditions
