E.g the citizens of a country may agree that it is vital for the country to provide affordable healthcare, good education and a clean environment. However, they may disagree on which area the govt. should prioritise -parents w schl-going children would likely want resources to be invested in educatiopn, whereas the elderly would likely prefer more resources to keep healthcare affordable to meet their medical needs #
E.g it is necessary to build expressways to accommodate an efficient transportation system whic allows traffic to flow smoothly. While society will benefit, residents living near the expressways may be affected by the traffic noise. This is an example of the Not In My Backyard (NIMBY) syndome. In Sg, the situation is even more difficult due it having limited land causing such facilities to be invariably built near where some people live.
Often, residents living near public facilities believe that these developments are necessary, but think that these facilities should be built further away from their homes so that they do not have to bear the inconveniences associated with them *
