How has our Købenjord simulation contributed to our understanding of societies?
Problems that are in the real world
Refugees
We had to either take refuge or take in refugees from the disaster.
Disasters
We had to deal with an environmental disaster.
Resources
We had to manage our resources and obtain those that we don't have
Management
Alliances
We made alliances within the Køpenjord settlements to protect and aid each other
Food supplies
We had to either produce food for ourselves or trade for it to keep our settlements alive and well
Population
We had to manage our population by keeping it at the right level, not too many people but not too less.
Jobs and professions
Types of jobs
We had to create jobs for our communities based on both what was available in the area and what was needed in the settlement
Different workloads
Like how we made ratios for working people to non-working people, we made different workloads for different ages and genders
Ratio of working and non-working
We had to figure out how many people were working in our settlement and how many weren't to keep it realistic
Working ages
Like the above points, we made age standards for working, I made a retirement age and a minimum age to work.
What it feels like to lead a society
This simulation has shown us what leading a society feels like, like any simulation should. We have been put through the problems of obtaining our deficits to recovering from disasters. This has also helped by showing us our opinions on currents events like refugees and resource problems by placing us in the shoes of those affected.
