Gerald (Jerry) Gault a 15 year old had been accused of talking dirty with his neighbor Mrs. Cook. Jerry Gault was fined to jail for 6 years while if an adult had committed this same crime they would have been fined 2 months in jail and have to pay up to $5 or $10

On the dates of court for hearing Mrs. Cook was not present, there also had been no transcript or recording made and when they had a second hearing Mrs. Cook was once again not present for it even after Mrs. Gault had asked her too.
