The Hurting Game
-
Lighting
-
-
Trying to make the performance clear and not hide the fact that they know we are watching a play that brings the teenage issues to life
-
Sound/Music
-
Helped to build the set, due to minimal set pieces
-
-
-
Costumes
-
The were wearing costumes that matched their location and timeline - e.g. in video game or in the past
-
Costume changes took place in view of the audience - due to pace and also due to the fact we are watching a performance of a performance
Set/Staging
The venue was a 'black box' theatre - a versatile space where the audience and stage are highly flexible
-
-
The staging meant that sometimes it was hard to see the actor's faces - the actors used their body and blocking to avoid this issue
It was an immersive staging experience which meant the audience was very close to the actors, making us like a 'fly on the wall'
-
Other Observations
-
They were chucking the props in the bin to represent the fact that the events were in the past and that they were moving on and accepting their own identities
