Definition
Energy is the power to work. the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.

Conservation of Energy
-
-
You can calculate the efficiency of a device/appliance using this equation - energy efficiency (%)= energy output divided by energy input x 100 (The efficiency = the energy output divided by the energy input multiplied by 100)
Energy in Food

-
When we eat food, our bodies convert the stored energy, known as Calories, to chemical energy, thereby allowing us to do work. A calorie is the amount of heat (energy) required to raise the temperature of 1 gram (g) of water 1 degree Celsius.
Conduction, Convention & Radiation
Conduction: This happens in solids. When a solid is heated the particles gain energy and vibrate more this makes them bump into the particles nearby. This passes on the energy and so the heat is passed along. EG when a spoon is left in a pot the handle will get hot. Some substances are good conductors, eg metals. Others are insulators eg wood and plastic.
-
Convention: This happens in liquids and gases. The particles are free to move and so when a liquid or gas is heated the particles move around more and take up more space. This means they become less dense which causes them to rise. This produces convection currents in liquids and gases.
-
Radiation: The sun sends out infrared radiation or heat energy. When it hits a surface some is reflected , some passes through and some absorbed. The absorbed infrared radiation makes the object hotter, this type of heat transfer is called radiation.
Heat transfer by electromagnetic waves, does not need substance to transfer, through space (vacuum).
The Ear
The ear is made up of three main parts, Outer Ear, Inner Ear & Middle Ear. The Outer Ear consists of: Pinna & the external auditory canal & Tympanic Membrane (Also called the ear drum). The Inner Ear consists of Cochlea, Vestibule, Semicircular Canals
Ear Glossary Pinna: This is the outside part of the ear External Auditory Canal: This is the tube that connects the outer ear to the middle ear.
Insulators & Conductors
Insulation is usually done by layering layers between the cold and warm areas: insulation. This reduces the process of transfer.
Insulated walls stop the cold air from coming inside. Insulation protects the warmth and keeps the cold out.

Energy Transformation
Energy types can transform from one to another. However these is no lost energy & no more is created, as all the energy was created when the Big Bang occurred.
Sound
Sound energy is the form of energy associated with the vibration of matter. Sl unit of sound energy is the joule (J). Sound is a mechanical was and as such consists physically in oscillatory displacement of a fluid.
Renewable Energy
Is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat, which are renewable. (Naturally replenished).
Un-Renewable Energy
Resources/energy that cannot be replaced once it is used or energy that is not being replaced as fast as it is used.

The amount of kinetic energy an object can have depends on two things, it depends on the objects mass and speed
Electromagnetic Spectrum The arrangement of waves radiant energy in order of wavelength and frequency.
