Brownian Motion
Liquids
The particles are fairly close together.
Quite strong forces of attraction hold them together.
The particles move past each other.
They have fixed volumes.
The shape can change to fit the container.
They can flow easily.
They can not be compressed.
Solids
Made up of close together particles.
Strong forces of attraction hold the particles together.
The particles vibrate in fixed poitions
The shape and volume do not change.
The can not be squashed.
They do not flow.
Gases
The particles are well spread out.
There are weak forces of attraction between the particles.
The particles move freely in all directions.
The shape and volume can change.
The flow very easily and spread out.
They can be compressed quite easily.
Brownian Motion
Caused by water particles moving all the time.and hitting for instance pollen.
When the water particles hit the pollen the grain moves.
This is known as the Brownian Motion
Dilution
When you add water to squash you make it lighter (diluting it)
The colour turns paler because the particles are more spread out.
Pressure
It is caused when when particles hit off the wall of the container.
Solids, Liquids and gases are explained by the Particle Theory
Three states of matter are handled and stored differetly
