Lara, China, tells us it is essential to ensure that authentic engagement, curiosity, and connections are nurtured and developed for and by the students.
Connected North - Networking Academy: Cisco Networking Academy is an IT skills and career building program for learning institutions and individuals worldwide.
2nd Connection - Establish and Develop PLNs and PLCs: A global educator knows that connected learning is about not working in isolation, but learning with and from others. It is through networking and interacting with others that a personal learning network (PLN) can be established.
Connected North - Use of collaborative technology for teacher professional learning and mentorship. Professional development experts and peer mentors can instruct and interact with teachers in remote locations, providing them access to expertise that might otherwise have been very difficult to acquire.
3rd Connection - Connectivism: Through the use of new technology tools, connected learning focuses on the building of networks and the development of personal learning resources through interaction with personal learning networks and personal learning communities.
Connected North - Incorporating a Diversity of Voices: Welcoming input from a range of sources on how we can best support participating students and educators.

Connected North - Thinking Beyond The Classroom: Understanding that students' experiences within the classroom cannot be disconnected from their realities outside of the classroom including historical and social contexts.
5th Connection - Learning that Goes beyond the Classroom: Lara, teaching in China, shares that "It begins with the school community, then to the local community, the country, the nation, the region, the world and the solar [system."](
Peter Paccone - The Educator Award Winner
How One High School Junior Honored the Memory of a WWII Vet - Jinze Wu created a ten-minute slideshow presentation Mr. Paccone 1st period honors US history class. Entitled The Battle off Samar which she dedicated to Bob DeSpain (survivor of the World War II Battle off Samar)
1st Connection - Breaking Down Barriers to Learning: Perla from Mexico shares, "From my personal point of view, global connected learning means to take advantage of technologies to break limitations like time zone, distance, language, and age to share learning experiences."
Mr. Paccone used modeling as a way to properly demonstrate to students how to use technology to expand learning. Jinze Wu presentation is an exemplary use of technology as she built a friendship with Bob while volunteering on the Battleship USS Iowa.
2nd Connection - Personal Awareness of "Being Global" - A major impact of becoming and being global for an educator i enhanced personal awareness of what it is and white is possible.

Skype is often used for interaction and mystery Skype, Facebook and Twitter for networking: cell phones for sound and picture taking."
