How body uses fat
Digesting fat
Chemical digestion
Pancreatic lipase digests triglycerides converting it into
fatty acids and a monoglycerides
Absorption and packing
when they are captured by the microvlli lining, they are
reensambled into triglycerides, these are packed into chlylomivrons and are released into the lympathic system
-
Fate of ingested fat
Chylomicrons activate lipoprotein lipase which breaks down
tryglycerides for absorption. Fatty tissue stores and muscle burns fat. Chylomicrons shrink into chylomicron remenants
which are absorbed by the liver which is a key organ in lipid metabolism.
overview
fat is first ingested as food and first subjected to
mechabical digestion to later be broken down into
small droplets of fat through chemical digestion
Transporting Fat
Albumin: Is a plasma protein that transported the fatty acids released. This can be taken up to the muscles or other tissues to be used for energy.
Lipoproteins and health: The VLDLs released by the liver contains fat and cholesterol. It travel through the body to deliver the fat.
Intracellular transport: Is when the cytoplasm (FABPs) transport the fatty acids by encapsulating them.
Lipoprotein: Are particles, there are 5 different types.
Its function is deferent depending on the lipoprotein.

Fat to sugar
Glucose is obtained from glycogen and other precursor molecules. Triglycerides are broken down to glycerol and fatty acids
Sugar to fat
The muscle and the liver convert Exces glucose to glycogen, an energy reserve
Endogenous Fat
When the fat is already digested and absorb it transports to the liver who stores it and also distributed it to the body.
-
Storing fat: Is the process, where the liver cover the fat to sugar and when the fatty acids are assembled into triglycerides.
Ketone Bodies
Is a group of molecules that include acetoacetate. During starvation acetyl-coenzyme is overproduce as fatty acids break down, they listed of being fed they become into ketone bodies. During fasting this become a important source of energy for the brain.
Depending on the availability of food and metabolic demand, fat and sugar are converted into each other by a series of enzymes reactions.
