I decided to take an AP course for various reasons, actually. I believe that regular and honors courses did not challenge me. Also, I have an interest in literature and the craft of writing. My teachers and relatives encouraged me to take an advanced placement course as well. Finally, I could earn some college credits!

Taking AP courses gives me a better chance of understanding college level classes and sets me up higher. Education is the way to success in life and by being ahead of the game I can pave a better future for myself. I’ve lived through the struggles my family has faced and learned that this isn’t the type of life I would want for myself.

I want to challenge myself and learn something new. A day without learning anything new can be boring. I like a good challenge and would embrace them full heartedly.

Freshman year, I had a teacher that would always compliment me on my hard work in class. I would always bring my notes from 8th grade to class just to have them with me as reference. He was one of the only teachers that could see the potential that I had for a very bright future. Also, I used to love to read. I loved spending time at Barnes and Noble picking out books to buy and read. I would always buy them to be able to just pass them down to my sisters when they were of age to read.
My teacher recommended me to take AP, mainly because she thought I could use a challenge since I did really well in her class
