Measuring blood pressure
Blood pressure is measure by placing a cuff around the upper arm and inflating it. This is to prevent blood from the arteries from entering the forearm.
After that, the cuff is slowly deflated and the doctor listens with a stethoscope for sounds of blood flow in the artery. This occurs when the cuff pressure drops below the diastolic point
The cuff is further deflated until there are no more sound which happens when the cuff pressure drops below the diastolic pressure.
