How to identify and assists struggling students

Student fails to complete task in the time alloted
Student consistently scores poorly on subject test
Student show and inability to articulate verbally the subject matter
During lesson evaluation the student expresses that they had difficulty in the subject.
Evaluations Tools
Have students self asses on their activity sheets
Give students journal where they can express their successes and failures from the lesson
Do 1 up 1 down allow student to share openly positive and negatives from the lesson. With their classmates thumb up and down if they agree.
Check in with students individually to asses progress
Do many test to asses basic skills (5 question quizzes)
Behavioral
They bother other students who are working (stealing eraser, or hitting)
They visible look distressed or uninterested during assignments
If a student is angry or upset without provocation.
Drawing or other distractions during assignment
Interventions
Record Behaviors and academic progress
Communicate with parent if actions or lack of progress is persistent
Bring in counselor to help explain students struggles
Meet with school leadership and special education teacher to develop instruction plan.
5.Execute this plan in the classroom, reevaluating it monthly.
