As an educational tool for the public , FBDG express nutrition principles in terms of food and dietary patterns that promote health and lower risk for nutrition - related diseases.
As a policy tool they provide a means to coordinate nutrition- related programmes as well as to evaluate the adequacy of the food supply in meeting the nutritional needs of the population.
