Example: children can classify toys according to the color, shape and size.

Comparing: compare amounts more, less and the same.

Example: I might give them a car and a truck and ask the students to tell me the differences between the two cars.
Parts and wholes: is a ratio or a fraction that represents a relationship between a part and its whole.

Ordering and patterning: is a higher level of comparing because it involves comparing more than two things or more than two sets.
Example: I might give them some blocks and then I will ask the students to do a pattern using the blocks.
