Why College Athletes Should NOT Be Paid
Lack of funding
Most of the left over money athletics make at a unviersity goes back into the educational programs and athletic programs at the school
Say goodbye to excellerated programs
Lack of resources in the classroom
Revenue
The amount of revenue leftover at a university is for funding
If you take the funding money and give it to the athletes, the amount of money to diserace amongest every athletes in every sport is diffficult
In perspective, theres roughly 120 football players on a football team. Times that by a soccer team, volleyball, softball ,baseball, wrsetling, tennis, swimming, lacross, basketball etc. For both mens and womens teams.
If you pay athletes; disputes about who should get paid more then others can arise.
some sports may think they should get paid more then other sports.
In order to equally distribute a small amount of leftover money amongest hungreds and hundreds of athletes, the amount they would get paid would be very small.
Most athletes get more benefits then regular college students
athletic trainers to make sure they are healthy, nutritionist, scholarships to just play there.
own rec rooms and weights to lift. Some schools have gyms that are only limited wit athletes that have nicer equipment
This could ruin college sports.
the highest paying teams, schools and sports will get the best players and more rectruiting of better players
Lack of everything that goes into Univerisities
teacher pay, text books, the sole purpose of college
athletes will focus more on their sports rather then their schooling if they know they are going to be getting paid to play at sport at a school that is supposed to provide them with an education.
student athletes not athletic students
