Scientific Revolution
objective 2
Scientists like Francis Bacon, Galileo, Rene Descartes, and Isaac Newton made discoveries that would change the world.
In 1705 he was knighted by Queen Anne, but by that time he had already published 2 books.
-
When he was a professor at Cambridge his lecture were poorly attended and he wasn't interested in what he was teaching.
He had a serious interest in chemistry and with this interest he had a goal to find the philosopher stone.
Rene Descartes has a very famous quote that states,"I think. therefore I am."
He decided that he couldn't relay on anything that he was thinking because they sometime miss lead him.
He would have dreams that he would be awake and then he would think that maybe he was awake right then and there, but he couldn't doubt it.
Any thought was that he was a thinking thing because that everything that was around him could be disprove.
objective 1
Near the end of the Renaissance, the Scientific Revolution began. This was a time of great strides in science and mathematics.
Newton approached science differently by saying that each science experiment would have to be performed differently.
The scientific method was eclectically democratic because they believed that in science no one can tell you what to do.
The church was the main place people went to for authority because it could manipulate what they thought that best fit.

objective 3
Copernicus was an astronomer who lived in the early 1500s. He came up with the idea that the Sun was the center of the universe. This was very different from the current belief that the Earth was the center.
He was sent to Italy to study law and church law and while there he got real interested in astronomy.
He realized when you move the sun to the center of the universe that the planets moved in a nice rhythm.
-
He believed that the Earth moved on an axis and moved every twenty four hours, but he kept his studies to himself.
objective 4
Italian scientist and scholar Galileo made pioneering observations that laid the foundation for modern physics and astronomy. His research into the pendulum help to develop the modern clock.
-
He discovered that the earth isn't the thing that planet revolve around, but the sun was.
