How does nature provide a reflection of the inner person ? (Main character)
John the savage is the main character. He was born with pain and confusions.John tries to change society but he cannot do that in the end.John is a potential hero.He wants freedom and not pain.
"But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin"
''It was after midnight when the last of the helicopters took its flight. Stupefied by soma, and exhausted by a long-drawn frenzy of sensuality, the Savage lay sleeping in the heather. The sun was already high when he awoke. He lay for a moment, blinking in owlish incomprehension at the light; then suddenly remembered— everything.''
John wants freedom and not pain in his life anymore.
What is the impact of ones personal agency upon natural world ?
When they say every one belongs to everybody.works independent thoughts for each human in that book strives without success for a genuine human emotion beyond his customary peevishness. .
" keep individuals from experiencing the stressful negative effects of conflicts that the society cannot prevent. Pain and stress — grief, humiliation, disappointment — representing uniquely individual reactions to conflict still occur sometimes in the brave new world''
'' He sees no reason and feels no moral or social compunction to fight for the rights of others oppressed by the social system.''
''By the end of the novel, all the efforts to free the individual from the grip of the World State have failed, destroyed by the power of convention induced by hypnopaedia and mob psycholog''
How does the natural world influence ones personal agency ?
''make the point that there is no such thing as "instinct," or if there is, it is no different from what citizens are programmed to believe.''
You all remember," said the Controller, in his strong deep voice, "you all remember, I suppose, that beautiful and inspired saying of Our Ford's: History is bunk. History," he repeated slowly, "is bunk."
Controller Mustapha Mond governs a society where every aspect of an individual's life, from decantation onward, is determined by the State. Predestination by God has been replaced by predestination by the government.
It influences them by there choices they make and how they act .They depend of the government alot.
Should there be limits to mans manipultion of nature ?
It warns of the dangers of giving the state control over new and powerful technologies.reproduction through technological and medical intervention, including the surgical removal of ovaries, the Bokanovsky Process, and hypnopaedic conditioning. Another is the creation of complicated entertainment machines that generate both harmless leisure and the high levels of consumption and production that are the basis of the World State’s stability. Soma is a third example of the kind of medical, biological, and psychological technologies that Brave New World criticizes most sharply.
''Science isn't totally bad in Brave New World. But it's these kinds of perks (massages, music, perfume) that shield the horrors of new technology. Even John later admits that he's a fan of some of this stuff."
''The surrogate goes round slower; therefore passes through the lung at longer intervals; therefore gives the embryo less oxygen. Nothing like oxygen-shortage for keeping an embryo below par." Again he rubbed his hands.''
''Nature" has no meaning in this new world; Mustapha Mond will later explicitly make the point that there is no such thing as "instinct," or if there is, it is no different from what citizens are programmed to believe.''
Yes ,there should be limits to the nature in this story because they do things they shouldnt. They explore new things with technology.
