We all know that anyone under 21 is not allowed to drink any alcoholic beverages. However it doesn't matter what age you are you still can have negative both physchological and physical consequences.

The negative consequences in the sense of physchological is called physchological dependence which is a condition in which a person believes that a drug is needed in order to feel good or function normally.

the consequences of overuse of alcohol. The overuse of alcohol or an alcoholic beverage can lead to physiological dependence which is a condition where the user has a chemical need for a drug ( this might be ethanol since alcohol contains this addictive substance)

Factors that influence alcohol use

Family can also influence alcohol use because when the teen's parents discouraged and avoid the use of alcohol, the teen is more likely do the same.

One of the factors is Peer Pressure- this is when alcohol use is not an accepted activity in the group, a teen will not feel the pressure to drink, its the same way when the group has started to drink thats when a teen is pressured to join their friends in drinking.

Media messages is also a big part of whether the teens want to drink or not because media messages may or can make alcohol use seem glamorous and fun.

Companies that make alcohol spend billions of dollars each year to associate their product with youthful, healthy people who seem to be having fun.

Health risks of alcohol use

In the U.S nearly 36 people die each day as a result of alcohol related traffic collisions. that means roughly 13,140 people die each year because of alcohol.

Alcohol and the law

It is illegal for anyone under 21 years of age to buy, posess, or drink alcohol. Teens who break this law are faced with serious consequences. They can be arrested and sentenced to a youth detention center.Any convictions of arrests can negatively affect the teen's future like limiting college and employment options. It also damage a teen's reputation and cause the m to lose the trust of friends and family members.

Alcohol and violence

Fights are more likely to occur in parties where alcohol is present. The teens who are involved in the fight can face school or police disciplinary action. Teen who drink have higher chance of becoming victims or perpetrators of violent crimes, such as rape,aggravated assult, and robbery.

Alcohol and sexual activity

Alcohol impairs judgment and lowers inhibitions and can cause a person to compromise his or her values. Teens who use alcohol are more likely to become sexually active at an earlier age, and to engage in unprotected sexual activity. Approximately 23% of sexually active teens use alcohol or drugs before engaging in sexual activity. They are also in danger of getting STD.

Alcohol and the family

It is estimated that 25% of all youth are exposed to alcohol abuse which is the excessive use of alcohol within their families. Young people who live with a family member who abuses alcohol are at high risk for
-neglect, abuse, or social isolation
-economic hardship
-personal use of alcohol themselves
-mental illness or physical problems
A person starts drinking at an early age can develop alcohol dependence. This is called Alcoholism which is a disease in which a person has a physical or psychological dependence on drinks that contain alcohol.

School and alcohol

Most school have adopted a zero-tolerance policy for students found using alcohol on school property. These students can become ineligible for or be suspended from school activities or graduation, or expelledfrom school. These students could also be placed in an alternate education program. The options for college and jobs becomes limited for these students.

Avoiding alcohol

Living alcohol-free is a choice some adults make. Some adults may choose to drink in moderation. When drinking alcohol it may be difficult to stop due to the addictive substance called ethanol. Teens are more likely to suffer from alcohol addictions then adults.

Benifits of living alcohol free

Making healthy decisions- By avoiding intoxicantio you will allow yourself to make decisions that will protect your health.

Avoiding risky activities- you will reduce the risk of making unhealty choices.

Establishing healthy relationships- you can be open and honest with your family and friends about your activities and habits.

Avoiding illegal activities- you can avoid arrests and legal problems

Maintaining a healthy body- this is done by avoiding damages that alcohol can cause your body and brain.

Avoiding violence- reduces your risk of being a victim of or the participanting in a violent crime.

Achieving your goals-allows you to stay focused on your short and long term goals

It may be difficult if your friends are the ones encouraging you to drink but learn to put your foot firmly down and say no or avoid parties or [places that has alcohol. you can also ues:
"I don't like the taste"
"No thanks. I need to be in top shape for the game this week."
"I don't drink alcohol--besides I am heading home."
"I really can't, my parents would be angry.We have an agreement."
"I don't want to risk getting kicked off the team" as an excuse on why you can't drink.
