Advantages and Disadvantages Formative assessments are very important in the process of lessons. They help both teachers and students. First, they help teachers to modify the instruction, identify students errors early, so that teachers can provide reteach if necessary or whether small group instructions are needed. Second, they help student receive feedback about their learning, they give opportunities to set learning goals for themselves, they help students to ask questions for clarification through learning to self-evaluate. Disadvantages of formative assessments may include time consuming, tiring process and they will only be of use if they are related to implementation.
