Brief:
Using one of the following themes you are to design and render both
manually and electronically (using Illustrator) the front cover of an Adult
Colouring book. On completion of the cover, you will then colour it using a
medium of choice. The colour palette chosen should reflect the style and
theme of the book, and be based from a specific colour scheme.
Themes:
Anime, Environment, Space, Animal, Spiritual, Culture or choose
your own.
Assessment instructions:
Using your knowledge of 2D drawing and research on popular adult
colouring books, you will illustrate the front cover of an adult colouring
book with consideration to the elements and principles of design.
Thumbnails and reflection must be recorded in your visual diary.
Choose a theme from the list OR choose own theme with prior
approval
Thumbnail ideas. Reflect, seek feedback
Identify and access relevant sources of information for adult colouring
books; noting styles, designs and any relevant techniques
Develop thumbnails into more detailed comprehensives. Reflect, seek
feedback
Scan and place hand drawn illustration into Illustrator and
electronically render the final cover
Mark making – looking into suitable patterns to be applied to your
theme
Mount manual artwork for presentation and prepare work for storage
Render concept by hand. Reflect, seek feedback
Save illustration as a PDF file for submission
Print final artwork and manually colour the artwork using mediums
of choice (pens/markers/paints/pastels etc.). Prepare works for
professional presentation to client and for storage

Size:
No bigger than A4 however you may select your orientation and page
size within the parameters.
