How we work with participation on S.I and more broadly societal challenges
How we work with participation on S.I and more broadly societal challenges
Idea 1: Edited Book- Anthology
Organise face to face meetings
Ask MSI to coordinate
To get trans-desciplinary overview of knowledge areas in SI
Appoint an editor
Contact publishers or self publish
Define audience - Local (SE) or International
Idea 2: Establish writing groups
The example is from New Zealand where researchers met to strategically create the field through writing workshops. This example is from the field of indigenous studies
Why: Such an exercise gives more time for preparative writing. The outcomes can be focussed on a tactical outcome (e.g 5 publications per year) or to think difficult concepts together (knowledge exchange)
The main task of such a group is to define the field
This can be done through the lens of practice i.e. ask what are we busy doing?
There is a value in highlighting Scandinavian approaches
Such an exercise would be inclusive to researchers who do not (yet) consider themselves a part of the S.I field of disciplines
An idea to include other researchers is to focus on methodology rather than stick to the core definition of S.I. This would open up the field to researchers who do not consider themselves as part of this community
How to write together
Starting point 1: S.I as starting point
The main contributors for this route would be S.I researchers
Starting point 2: S.I Practices as starting point
The main contributors would include S.I practitioners and it would encourage a wider authorship in general
Who is the audience/ readership?
Highlight excellence in SI research
Relevance to SI research
Focus on EU level audience for example FP 9
Langauge = English
Idea 3: Pooling knowledge (with respect to the coordination function of MSI)
With the objective of influencing stakeholders, especially civil servants
Finding representatives for consortiums
Evaluating proposals
Establishing guidelines for collaborations and help in finding research partnerships
Idea 4: Activating research networks
Research nodes are assumed to be hosted by university environments
A process of identifying research expertise linked to individual researchers and to nodes
Identifying 'research interests' such that knowledge outcomes cane be disseminated e.g. research outcomes, reports and so on
