A few appears only before plural count nouns. A little appears only before noncount nouns.

Many appear only before plural count
noun.
Example. Many fast food restaurants serve hot dogs.
Much may appear only before noncount nouns.
Example. They do not eat much red meat.
A lot of may appear before nountcount and plural coun nouns.
