- Colony: An imperial rule that was ruled directly by colonies.
- Protectorate: Its own government, but it was guided by a foreign power.
- Sphere of Influence: This is the most common type of territorial control. It is a part of a country in which the imperial power had exclusive investment or trading rights. You could only do business with a certain region or person.
- Economic Imperialism: Company controls a less developed country
Conference That Decided Africa's Fate
The Berlin conference changed Africa's fate. In the conference it was decided that European countries could claim Africa as long as they notified the other nations.
No African ruler was invented to this conference.
Europe chose to acquire Africa in order to change it's political and economic and lives. They wanted to change the Africans daily lives.
