- - - - Comprised of 2 partnerships
        
        Each partnership will have two boys or two girls (as much as possible), chosen on the basis of how children influence each other, interests, and reading level.
  - - - Role of the teacher is to model and design center to facilitate maximum student achievement and to ensure activities are on the independent level.
      - Role of the student is to utilize time well and work independently on given task. There will sometimes be student choice, where students will be given options based on their own interests and levels.
    - - Students will listen to a book while following along with the text. There will sometimes be added components, such as making connections, visualization etc... depending on what we are learning as a class. There will also be opportunities for student choice.
    - - Role of the student is to work in a group (or alone) to investigate a topic and complete a project that has begun in workshop.
      - Role of the teacher is to support student learning and closely monitor student progress to ensure students are successful. This center will be carefully set-up and will be started after a thorough introduction and workshop.
    - - (Flex Center- not always open) This center will be hands-on when possible and will be directly tied to science unit. Students will be expected to be a responsible user of all materials and teacher will have to closely monitor student progress. We will begin this as a class so students will know what the expectations are.
    - - Independent reading- Students are to choose appropriate books and read without interruption. The focus of this time is to read for enjoyment alone. Students should track progress and write books they have completed in a log for conference purposes. Other than that, they simply read. Role of the teacher is to monitor progress during independent reading time (see "Independent Reading", although this center is separate from Independent reading block).
      - Buddy reading- at times, students will read with their "buddy," a pre-chosen partner who is part of their guided reading group. Boys paired with boys, girls with girls (as much as possible).
