(Ally) Showing Market Cattle
Haired Shows
Haired- Hair on all of body, fitted to exhibitors content with respect to the rulebook of that particular show
Haired cattle must be kept in a temperature controlled barn, usually under 55 degrees to prevent them from shedding their winter coat.
Types of Shows
By Breed
Common breeds- Charolais, Maine, Simmental, Angus
AOB (Any Other Breed)
1000-1600 lbs weight bracket
Prospect- Under 900 and not sold for slaughter after show

Slick Shows
Slick- No more than 1/4" of hair on all of body except 12" of hair allowed on tail. (according to rules of San Antonio Stock Show)

Even though these cattle will not be shown with hair, they usually are kept in the same conditions as haired cattle. This includes a temperature controlled barn with clean bedding. Skin care is very important because the skin will be visible during the show.

Top 2 in division advance to final drive where champion and reserve champion are chosen
