- - - - Frederick Douglas wrote articles about slavery to hopefully open the eyes of people and bring it an end.
  - - - Harriet Tubman, also know as Moses, was a conductor for the Underground railroad directing slaves to freedom.
  - - - John Brown lead an attack by arming slaves because he believed that the only way to get the slaves free was to fight with weapons.
  - - - Robert E. Lee was the confederate general.
  - - - Ulysse S. Grant was the Unions general.
  - - - Robert G. Shaw was the confederates president.
  - - - Abraham Lincoln was the president during the time of the Civil War. The Gettysburg Address stated that the place where the South and the North fought should be honored and remembered because so many people lost their lives there. Abraham Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation that made it so the slaves in the South were free.
- - - - The Northern soldiers had more food than the south because the south wasn't given any food.
  - - - The North were given dog tents and blankets. The dog tents could hold 2 people per tent. The North soldiers used the blanket for cover over their heads or they used them for sleeping. Unlike the North, the south wasn't given supplies. Since the South wasn't given supplies, North soldier would come back to camp and their tents were gone because the south would steal them.
  - - - The Norths Uniforms were made from wool.They were the color of deep blue. The Southern soldiers had jean like material for their uniform. Their uniforms were butternut color, which that's were they got their nu=nicknames inspired from.The North carried many ideas with them such as canteens and personal items. The Southern soldier didn't carry many thing with them.
  - - - Most soldiers died because of disease. The most common disease was diarea.
  - - - When soldiers , North and South, had free time they would write letters home. They also might play card games or even read.
- - - - The Kansas-Nebraska Act was when some Union states could decide weather they would be slave states or not depending on the majority.
  - - - The Fugitive Slave Act was when people would report slaves in the free states so that they had to be sent back to the plantation. Any person could calm a African American was a slave, even if they were free.
  - - - The Underground Rail road was to help slave escape up to Canada so they could become free. This was making the South mad because they were losing slaves. There were even people called pilots that went down to the South and helped slaves get to freedom.

  - - - This caused the Civil War because the south needed more slaves and the north needed more cotton. The cotton was grown by slaves so this wasn't helping with the cause of abolition.
