North had about twice as many major cities than the south

The farms in the South had batter soil than the North. They hand planted because there were more slaves to farm for them, as in the North they used more machinery.

South had more slaves than the North before and after the Civil war but it was more mixed up after the civil war. The south had about 600x more slaves

The North had blue heavy cotton uniforms with belt and the South had tan- grey uniforms that were itchy and old and looked like "butternuts" that the Union nicknamed them

For both sides most of the deaths were caused by disease and diarrhea

The North got rubber blankets and tents and had access to the Suttler's shop. As for the South they just stole from the North and didn't get supplied anything.

On their free time they both wrote letters home, played cards, and read

North had larger rations and a better diet than the South

How civil war ended

Union (North) won the civil war because the Confederate (South) Surrendered and Ulysses S. Grant had all wins for the Confederate troops and that is the impact he had on the war.

Confederate Surrendered because they didn't have enough soldiers to get the supplies they needed and the troops were starving. So Robert E. Lee called the surrender and demanded that his troops got to keep they baggage they earned from the war. That is the impact Lee had on the war.

Technology Impact

Industrialization is The process of developing industries where things are made from factories

The economy was based on manufacturing and commerce Also south believed that hand planting was better but North thought machinery was the way to go so this built up a fight between them.

Eli Whitney was the inventor of the cotton gin. this impacted the Civil War because It made it harder on the slaves in the south because they had to import the cotton and the cotton just made them work harder.

Conflicts that led to Civil War

The underground railroad was a way for slaves to get from the north to the south safely. With the help of conductors who guided them through the railroad, pilots who went to get slaves and bring them to safety, and stations where they stayed as homes where they could stay before they moved. More slaves were free and could fight in the war so this had a big impact on the start of the Civil War.

The Kansas- Nebraska Act determined whether states were free or slave states using popular sovereignty.

The Fugitive Slave Act made it so runaway slaves would be returned to their owners and would get big rewards.This made it harder on the slaves. Officers would get raises for finding slaves so this made it even worse in slaves because officers were working even harder to find them and they would soon have to work harder then that had before because they were being punished for running away.

Missouri Compromise is Missouri will be a slave state, Maine will be free, and anything above the line will be free and anything below the line will be slave states.

Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin telling what its like to be a slave and made people see the harshness of slavery.

Harriet Tubman was a conductor of the Underground Railroad and kept going back to save slaves.

Frederick Douglass shared his ideas about slavery in newspapers like the North And made people think harder about how slavery.

Robert G. Shaw dropped everything to fight in the war and led the first all African- American team in the war.

Abraham Lincoln gave a speech called the Emancipation Proclamation that freed slaves in the Confederate states but not in the Union because he couldn't pass an Amendment by himself and it was a soldiers action. And he wrote the Gettysburg Address saying He wanted to finish the work of the fallen soldiers, so they wouldn’t die a pointless death without having gained freedom for others. He kept working towards freedom. And he wanted to encourage others that freedom was possible even if the nation was falling apart at that time.

John brown led the attack on Harper's Ferry and armed the slaves so they could form a rebellion and gain freedom.

South believed they were being taxed unfairly compared to the North Because they had to export goods that had tax.

North had yarn, steel, and cotton. South had sugar, tobacco, rice, and cotton

The south had better farm land than the North because the land in the north was rocky and South had more slaves so things were hand planted which helped the soil. They fought over what was better for different thing which led to the war
