        What if instead of metaphorical worlds, they are actual worlds that people operate in between.

        But one day, the package he opens is disturbing, clearly not keeping with the same tone of past package contents.

        The man goes home and asks the two girls living with him if they've been talking to anybody. Were they approached by anybody?
        
        After the uncomfortable package, a young coed comes to visit Fisher and sleeps with him. This is on par with the tradition he has with his law school buddies.
        
        Fisher helped the feds bring down the corrupt law firm and its connection with Pao.
        
        But now they're coming to look into him because of his secret sex ring.
        
        Flashback: "The hat"
        
        Meeting Ashley / Sarah / Bridget
        
        Goes after people who he thinks sent the package too him and swears he won't be intimidated.
        
        The professor is asked to shelter a girl who may be in danger
        
        Over time it's reveled that this joke is in especially bad taste because Fisher is known to have forced several of his ex-lovers to have abortions.
      - Besides the running joke they send around to each other; the sender also pays for a high priced call girl to visit the receiver.

        Furthermore, if the lawyer agrees to help the man with certain legal entanglements of his own (which must remain off book), then he'll bring his business to the firm as a new client.
        
        The man doesn't get the promotion -- it goes to someone else, who ends up not taking it.
        
        The man is so upset, he goes to the girl who he's gotten pregnant, and tells her it's over between them. The engagement is off.
        
        Cookie comes to Fisher and tells him the girl's run away
        
        Later, Fish learns that the girl had an abortion
        
        She comes for Fish and shoots him.
        
        Knowing she's coming, Fish is ready for it and wears a vest
      - I'll become your client , and you can bring all my business to your firm, thereby ensuring you the partnership, if you marry my daughter.
        
        look at the facts, Richter Stoneman hasn't picked a new parnter in 5 years. You need my business to push you over the top.
      - The girl is sweet one day and fanatical the next. She treatens to have an abortion if Fish doesn't marry her.
        
        This is at the same time Ashley is planning to blow up the abortion clinic.
- - - - Only later, does Fish learn the law firm's plan was indeed to cooperate with the terrorists.

        One of them is a fire in the men's football locker room.
        
        Fish reflects back on a similar incident in the past; the time he met Ashley.
        
        Eventually, his own buidling catches on fire.
        
        But he gets away.
