Nursing interventions

-Assess patient’s signs and symptoms of pain, and administer pain medication, as prescribed. Monitor and record the medication’s effectiveness and adverse effects.

-Ask patient to help establish goals, and develop plan for pain control
Risk for activity intolerance:
-Assess the physical activity level and mobility of the patient.
-Encourage progressive self-care or participation in activities, when tolerated; identify and acknowledge the patient's progress.
-Instruct the patient in energy-conservation techniques; discuss alternatives with the patient, as appropriate.

-Encourage the patient to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), such as practicing good hygiene, dressing and feeding himself.

•Uric acid crystallizes in blood or body fluids, and the precipitate accumulates in connective tissue (tophi).
