Digestive System- The purpose of the digestive system is to break down the food you eat, and take the nutrients and the components your body needs to be able to function. the parts in this system is the mouth, stomach, liver, esophagus, and the small and large intestines. It will all start in your mouth where the saliva and your teeth break down your food, it then goes to your esophagus, which then goes to your stomach (in the stomach there is a liquid called chyme that breaks down your food even more). Your small intestine, the cholesterol and salt gets stored in your gallbladder. Next is the large intestines which takes in the left over water that was in the food that the small intestine was not able to break down, and then the body gets rid of the excess waste.
