Foundation species
Considered the base or bedrock of a community, having the greatest influence on its overall structure.
Keystone species
One whose presence is key to maintaining biodiversity within an ecosystem and to upholding an ecological community’s structure.
Definition
Community ecology is the sudy of a community in respect to the environment. 
Primary focus
Is on the interactions between populations as determined by specific genotypic and phenotypic characteristics.

It examines processes such as predator-prey population dynamics, succession, and community assembly.

Major research theme
A major research theme among community ecology has been whether ecology communities have a structure and, if so however to characterise this structure.

Linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organisms eats another. 
Food web
Consist of many interconnected food chains and are more realistic representation of consumption relationships in ecosystem.
