What can be done to help climate change? The 3 Pillars of Sustainability
Social:
Greenpeace
international charity which works around the world to help protect and conserve the environment. If there is an environmental cause, Greenpeace are likely to be involved in finding a solution. The charity works to protect the worlds oceans and ancient forests, campaigns against toxic waste and works to promote green energy and sustainable agriculture.
Careers in Charity Work
Higher pay for people who help out the environment and raise awareness on climate change
Create a vision for action
Talking about climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, temperature goals and so on is too abstract. We need a way to make people understand what needs to happen in the real world to solve the problem, something simple that can capture people’s imagination. I think 100% renewable energy provides that vision. When we say we want a world powered by 100% renewable energy, people understand what is needed to happen; it is physical and concrete.
Economical:
Companies can increase price of non-renewable energy
To encourage them to purchase and use renewable energy instead.
Governments should invest in renewable energy
Investing in renewable energy shows that bringing together the growth and climate agendas, rather than treating climate as a separate issue, could add 1% to average economic output in G20 countries by 2021 and lift 2050 output by up to 2.8%. If the economic benefits of avoiding climate change impacts such as coastal flooding or storm damage are factored in, the net increase to 2050 GDP would be nearly 5%.
Encourage businesses to speak up
Increasing numbers of businesses are saying that climate change poses a key operational risk, so they need to have their say, as well as the growing businesses that are driving the clean economy and are invested in climate action.
People who are affected by climate change should be given funds
Help with medical bills and also for rebuilding homes
Environmental:
Take public transportation instead of your own cars
Less greenhouse gases emitted.
Try eating less meat , become a vegetarian or better yet a vegan .
Livestock like cows, goats and etc, produce greenhouse gases (especially through their farts). So, by eating less meat, maybe farmers would try to reduce birth rate of livestock.
Buy products which certify that they are harvested in a sustainable way
This is to ensure that businesses make sure that they are not contributing to climate change; so that their businesses don't run into bankruptcy.
Planting more trees
In order for the trees to help 'breathe in' carbon dioxide and exchange it for oxygen. This can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases being trapped into the Earth's atmosphere.
Choose renewable power
Able to save fossil fuels for future generations and also the lessen chance of global warming.
Using biodegradable materials
Materials that are non-biodegradable would stay in the earth and could releases toxic gases or chemicals which can contribute to climate change.
Stop buying new clothes
Many kinds of chemicals and greenhouse gasses are involved in the making of clothes or even other products.
Reduce, reuse and recycle
To reduce amount of greenhouse gases being used to produce materials.
