Procedure- Ptps shows car accident asked to fill in questionnaire after watching film. Questionnaire contained a critical question which aired in terms of the versed to describe accident.
Critical question 'About how fast were that cars going when they'___' each other. Verbs' Smashed (mean spead: 40.8), Collided (39.3), Bumped (38.1), Hit (34), Contacted (31.8)
Word of leading question could alter original memory.
Procedure- Ptp divided into 3 groups + shown car accident. Group 1 were given the verb 'Smashed', group 2 'hit', group 3 control group.
Ptp had returend a week later, and answered 'Did you see any broken glass' (there was none).
Group 1 (smashed) 16-yes + 34-no,
Group 2 (hit) 7-yes + 43-no
Control group 6-yes + 44-no
