Euthanasia should be legal in all 50 states.
Euthanasia can save lives.
They can use every single body part and save hundreds of lives.
One organ donor can save up to 8 lives.
The skin can help burn victims when they need skin graphs.
Doesn't shorten lives as much as most people think.
In 1991, Dutch report into euthanasia found in 86% of cases life was shortened by only one week to around a few hours.
Euthanasia reduces stress.
The patient can get anxiety and depression which makes them suffer even more.
Family members get stressed when they see there loves ones suffering.
It is stressful to physicians to see patients suffer and that they have no way to help them.
Religion should not be a factor.
Most people disagree with euthanasia because of their religion.
People that don't believe in a god do not have a problem with this.
Take away religion and more than half of the people that disagree will start agreeing.
The sixth commandment of the Ten Commandments says, "Thou shall not kill." Take that away and all your Catholics and the religions under the Christian umbrella would more than likely switch to agreeing with it.
Euthanasia helps keep a larger supply medical supplies.
Opens up hospital beds.
No medical supplies used on patients who cannot be cured.
No usage of medication on patients who have no hope.
The maxim "Do no harm" designed to guide doctors in their actions, could just as easy, literally mean, "Do not keep someone alive when death is preferable".
People have rights.
Freedom
It's your own body you can do what you want with it.
Human Rights
It is our human right that we have the right to death just as much as we have the right to life.
Patient's Bill of Rights
The American Hospital Association adopted a "Patient's Bill of Rights" which recognizes the right of patients to refuse treatment.
Euthanasia makes economic sense.
No unnecessary medical bills.
Care of a single individual at the end of their life is an estimated $9,000.
For 40% of households, the medical bill exceeds their financial assets for continued care.
The person who died is no longer eating, taking showers, taking up room and needing to be cared for.
People will find other worse ways to kill themselves.
Tony Nicklinson, with his bid to die rejected in court, starved himself after suffering from "locked in" syndrome for most of his life.
Kelly Taylor was in so much pain she starved herself for 19 days before realizing her suicide route was worse than her living hell and started eating again.
The public supports it.
Since 1964, the public have overwhelmingly returned a “yes” vote to the question “by some painless means, if the patient and his or her family request it.” Putting the current support at 70%.
Even when Gallup (the man who asked the question) changed the wording of their question to remove all references to “painless means” and family consent—and deliberately stuck in the divisive word “suicide”—over half of the electorate still supported allowing patients the right to die.
