Reflection: Self-efficacy was a construct that I looked at in my dissertation work. Primarily, I looked at teacher self-efficacy. It is amazing what intrinsic beliefs about ability can do in performance in the classroom for teachers, not only students. As Schunck (1991) postulates, it is important for long-term studies to be done so we can fully understand how efficacy can be influenced. My study was short-term. I am very curious to know if what was learned in my dissertation work by the teachers I worked with has stayed with them and has made them more efficacious.
