Performance interfering thoughts (PIT) and performance enhancing thoughts (PET). Performance interfering thoughts can be self limiting and do not allow for the coachee to realise their potential, for example a performance interfering thought - I am useless at presentations. If you take the same thought and looking at altering, your thought might be: some presentations have gone better then others, but overall, my delivery is ok (Williams, Palmer & Edgerton, 2014)
