Learning in a Museum
How would you prepare your students to benefit from such interactive experiences?
Have students
read
published articles in the media about objects on display (
Público
and
Diário As Beiras
, two Portuguese newspapers that have posted articles about University of Coimbra Museum objects)
Have students choose one of the objects, after having read about a few and prepare a presentation about it (
Glosgter
)
Have students
prepare questions
to ask the museum curator about the object of their choice
Have students meet the museum curator, present the
Glogster
of their chosen object and
discuss ideas
about it with the curator
Have students make any necessary c
orrections/ changes
to their initial Glogster now that they've exchanged ideas with the museum curator and do an English version of it
Have students visit the museum and
take a photo
or do a
stop motion film
about the object of their choice using their mobile phones / apps
How would you follow up their experience?
Students enter
a photo competition
or a
stop motion film competition
. They ask their community to vote for the best on the social media or eTwinning page
Their work (glosgters, photos and films) is posted on the school's and the museum's websites both in English and Portuguese
The students assess the activity via a Socrative form.
Students prepare Kahoots to check their peers' knowledge of their work
