-
Asses Performance
Break from groups again, and return to individual computers
As a Summative Assessment, repeat the process on an individual basis
-
General Discussion follows with clarification on how to improve, and where to improve learning
Learners must each log in to their own Admin Panel, create their own contact, on their own site, and create their own menu item, verifying or creating a musdule to display the menu and making the page live
The Tutor must try and not intervene, encouraging learners to attempt the objective without assistance where possible, and within reason (Keeping issues of diversity and Disability in mind)
Results should be self evident as contact pages are created , partly created or not at all, if not visible for the front-end then work done or mistakes made will be visible from the users Admin Panel.
Elicit Performance
Each group must create a Contact page for itself on the demo website, with a menu item in the main menu. They must each confirm that a Module has been created for this Menu and is published in the desired position
This is guided practice, and while the learners are allowed the freedom to get things wrong, and correct themselves and each other, the Tutor must be available and willing to answer questions that may arise
There is no set rule as to whether one individual operates the computer or they each take turns to complete parts of the task
-
Discussion and Practical, Team Performance
Each group is to create a name for itself and can include any contact details and information or images where appropriate, as desired and agreed, without straying too far from the basic brief
Provide Guidance
Opening the Demo Site's Contact Page on a Projector Screen, present an end result to the learners and indicate the 3 areas mentioned above, and how they appear on the front end of the website.
Return briefly to the Demo Site's Admin Panel Make a change in the contact component which can be clearly seen when the font-page is refreshed.
Proceed towards eliciting performance and split the learners into small groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group is to gather around a single machine, one per group and be logged in to the Admin Panel of the Demo Site.
-
Enhance Retention
-
Conclude with a recap of what's been covered & recognise the achievements of the course participants
Set loose homework goals to encourage ownership of the new knowledge and reinforce the sense of achievement. Hand over the "Power" to take the knowledge on outside of the course confines, and/or build upon it in their own time
Link to, or paper copy of, lesson evaluation form to be provided for learners to complete prior to conclusion
-
-
Gain Attention
Begin with relaxed greetings and formalities, and when all are present and ready, prompt a light discussion and interaction by asking about any work done at home.
The previous week had concluded with the learners advised to browse the Admin Panel without obligation to achieve anything specific, but freedom to try anything.
Encourage learners to share their first impressions and experiences of the Admin Panel outside of the training/classroom environment, and gain an insight into levels of confidence within the group or individuals
