Failures
After a powerful wind and rain storm in 2010, the seawall along the Drakes of England collapsed due to erosion at its base.
- it spanned the length of two properties and had to be filled with riprap as a temporary measure while reconstructions of seawalls were underway

Before:
- high risk of agricultural fields being inundated with seawater because of flooding and storms
- fields were rendered unusable for years, posing a threat to livelihoods of 17 million people living in the Mekong region
After:
- restoration of mangroves since the 1990s, mangroves now protect the land from rising water
- As of September 2017, coastline now extends a further 180 into the sea and more than 600 hectares of mangrove forests have been restored in total
