Good Country People
In good country people we see preceptions made by both main parties in the story. Hulga had judged Manly and Decided he was not smart enough to hurt her. However Manly also made an assumption based on the fact that Hulga was a woman that he would be able to take advantage of her like he had done to others in the past.
This story is about how we precieve people in society and make decisions and comments about them before we know who they really are or even care to know who they are. It also shows that this is a societal issue and the preceptions are rooted deep within society.
