Geography
Himalayan Mountains
#
Description: The Himalayan Mountains protected Ancient India from other countries. Because of that, Ancient Indians didn't have a military. That was fine for a while until the other countries figured out how to conquer them. This was one of the rivers that the Indus Valley civilization depended on.
Indus River

Description: The Indus River flows from Tibet, into Jammu and Kashmir, and into the rest of Pakistan. The Indus river is what most of the Indus Valley civilization depended on.
Ganges River

Description: The Ganges River is a 1,569 mile long river flowing across Ancient India and Bangladesh into the Bay of Bengal. The Ancient Indians used the river for drinking and growing crops, but then polluted the river with their waste.
Main Cities
Harappa #
Definition: Harappa is one of the two biggest cities in the Indus Valley civilization, and started in around 2,600 B.C.E.
Mohenjo-daro #
Description: Mohenjo-daro was built in around the 26th century B.C.E., and was one of the largest cities in the Indus Valley civilization.

Description: The Indus Valley Civilization was the very first civilization in Ancient India. It was also the very first civilization to have plumbing. It lasted for 1,100 years, from 2,800 B.C.E. to 1,700 B.C.E.

Description: The people who migrated into Ancient India, bringing many things that impacted Ancient India with them.

Social Structure
Caste / Caste System
Description: The caste system is Ancient India's social structure. It is divided into 5 parts; Untouchables (Bottom of the caste system), Sudras, Vaisyas, Kshatriyas, and the Brahmins (Top of the caste system).
The Classes
Brahmins
Description: The brahmins were the top of the caste system. They were treated like they were the first of the gods. Their job was to become priests and worship the gods.
Kshatriyas
Description: The kshatriyas the second highest class in the caste system. They had authority and power. Theri job was to fight as warriors during war, and to be incharge when there's peace.
Vaisyas
Description: The vaisyas were middle class in the caste system. They were treated even better than the sudras. Their job was to make sacrifices, give gifts, farm, breed, and trade.
Sudras
Description The sudras were the next class up from the untouchables in the caste system. They were treated a little bit nicer than the untouchables. Their job was to serve the top three classes in the caste system.
Untouchables / Dalit
Description: The untouchables were the bottom of the caste system. They were treated like they weren't human. They had the worst job in the caste system, cleaning up dead things.
