As already noted, there is a clear global trend towards urbanisation. The number of so-called megacities, whose total population exceeds 10 million people, will increase to 27 cities by 2025, with almost 10 percent of the worlds' population living in such urban environments.54 This trend is especially apparent in Asian and South American countries, where two-thirds of all worldwide megacities are currently located. Projections indicate that more than 500 million Asians will move to cities in the next 25 years, which represents a flow of about 2 million people per month.55
