Performing poorly on quizzes, homework, & exams
ASSIST STRUGGLING STUDENTS USING DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
Group students based on knowledge, ability, interests, or topic
Design lessons based on students learning styles
Meet students at their skill level & need
Provide a safe & supporting environment
Involve Parents
Communication via email, phone, calendars, letters
Teachers encourage parents to work with their child(ren) on their homework or reading to them
Communicate on a regular basis: weekly & monthly
Have a bilingual liaison when necessary/needed
Determine if the child needs to be referred to SPED

Recognize concerns with a team meeting

Child is Found Eligible - Referred to SPED
Referred to SPED
Create an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) with teachers, parents, team members, Principal, Psychologist, and student (if possible)
Communicate regularly with SPED teachers and parents
Cooperate and Communicate with Parents
Ensure teacher implements IEP
Annual IEP Review (more as needed/requested)
Child is Re-Evaluated (after 3-years)
