STRUCTURES
-
What is a force?
A force is anything that can deform a body(static effect) or change its state of movement or rest(dynamic effect).
LOADS
What is a load?
They are the forces that act on an estructure and they cause internal tensions on tha bodies. The tensions are called stresses.
The different loads
Fixed or permanent loads:They don`t vary over time, they always affect the structure in the same way.

STRESSES
What is a stress?
A stress is an internal tensions. It happens to all bodies subjected to the aplying of one or more forces on them
The types of stresses
Bending:Forces try to bend a body. This stress act on elements that are supported at their extremities and have a weight applied to them.

Shear or cutting:The force act like two scissor blades; they are very close together movin in opposite directions as they try to cut an object. This stress is the same when we put an oblect over the edge of a table and hit n to try and break it This is also called tensile stress.
Traction: Forces try to stretch the object and they move outwards away from the bodie along the same trajectory but in the opposite direction. The body becomes longer.
