Pulmonary Hypertension
Treatment
physical therapy, oxygen therapy, blood thinners, diuretics, digoxin
Lab tests: Pt/INR, metabolic panel
Intervention
Evaluate lab results of Pt/INR and metabolic panel to optimize drug therapy of blood thinners and diuretic. Assess vital signs with use of Digoxin if taken with diuretics to avoid dysrhythmias.
Cough
Treatment
Anti inflammatory medications- attacking the inflammatory component of cough in COPD might be symptomatically helpful without impeding sputum clearance.

Shortness of breath
Treatment
medications such as bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, anti inflammatories, pulmonary rehabilitation, physical activity training, oxygen therapy.
Intervention
Assess and document degree of breathlessness as its associated with severity of COPD, promote adherence to medications.

Muscle Weakness
Treatment
Exercise training, nutrition, oxygen therapy, medication
Intervention: Monitoring meal time and discussion food preferences, promoting independent completion of ADL's, promoting adherence to medications, monitoring supplemental oxygen, reducing barriers to oxygen use.
Risk Factors
smoking, age, low socioeconomic status, genetics (alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency), air pollution, lung developmental abnormality
Signs and Symptoms
Dyspnea, productive cough, wheezing, chest tightness
