- - - - Activity: Each student will brainstorm a few different ways that they can save water in their day-to-day life. They must then pick one idea that they think they are the most likely to use and stick with in their life. They are then to think of a way to present their idea to the class. It can be a song, a poem or just a short oral presentation that is around a minute in length. In their presentation they will try to convince their classmates that this will be great to incorporate into their life.
    - - Activity: All the pages of the book will be photocopied and given to each group (of 3 or 4). All the pages of the book will be rearranged into a random order. Each group must rearrange the pages into chronological order. They must use their prediction skills to predict what they think will be next and arrange it in a way that makes sense.
      - Activity: The first few pages of the book will be read to the students. The students must then individually brainstorm what they predict will happen to the drop next. Once they have an idea, they are to write their prediction at the top of an A3 piece of paper. Below their prediction they are to illustrate their prediction.
  - - - Activity: Each student will have access to a copy of the book. They must create a cycle showing where the drop goes throughout the book. Explain to the children that because the drop finishes where it started, it can be shown in a cycle and can continue forever (infinitely). Students should be encouraged to think about anything else they know that could be represented in a cycle.

    - - Activity: Students are to look through the book looking at the text lay out and how it is shaped through out the book - the text is shaped to 'follow' the journey the drop goes on. The students are then to pick a shape out of a couple provided (rain drop, cloud, sun shapes) and decorate the picture. They are then to write their own sentence that is related to the shape they have chosen (similar idea to a concrete poem). They will then write the sentence around the shape.

    - - Activity: The teacher will photocopy A3 copy of a page of the book. The teacher will then cover one or two words on the page. The students will then read the sentence and predict what they think the covered words are. The students will use their prior knowledge to draw on words that they think fit the sentence. Once every student has finished their predictions, the words can be revealed.
  - - - Activity: Students are to listen to the teacher read the book, "The Drop Goes Plop". They are then to recreate the story and incorporate it into their own life. They are to write a story about a drop that might go through their home. Where would the drop you? Shower? Washing machine? Hose? They are then to continue the story of the drop. Does it go down a drain? Evaporate into the clouds? Each drop is to start from their home.
    - - Activity: Students will be given the text of a page of the book on small piece of paper. They will also be given a blank piece of A4 paper. Each student are to illustrate a picture that they think fits with the text that they were provided with. They must then swap their work with another student's work. They must write what they think the original text said based on their illustrations.
    - - Activity: Students are to create a sequel to "The Drop Goes Plop". Students can decide if they want to create a new pathway for the drop or whether they may follow a character from the story, such as the bird, on a different journey.
- - - - Activity: Students are to make a poster that can raise awareness about how important saving water is. They must incorporate aspects of how we can reduce water use, reuse water and recycle water. These words will be explained to the students prior to this activity. Students should then name a couple ways which they save water at home. If some students cannot think of any, they should set some goals of what they are going to try to do to save water.
      - Activity: Students are to brainstorm many different ways that they can save water. Once they have at least 6 in their brainstorm, they must order them from most to least effective
  - - - Activity: Students will be given the resources needed (500mL flat-bottomed plastic bottle that has the top cut off, waterproof clear tape, laminated measuring strip and a permanent marker) to create a rain gauge. It will then be demonstrated to the children how to make the gauge and some instructions will be given to the students. In small groups (of about 4) the students will then create a rain gauge. Students will then be encouraged to think about what season they think will have the most rainfall and which season they think will have the least rainfall.
      - Activity: In small groups students are to brainstorm where in the school they think water is used. A school map can be provided to remind students of all the different places in the school. Students in there groups are then going to go on a hunt around the school and are to add any new places they find that is using water. When they come back to the class, the class can discuss where they found water being used in the school. The teacher will then lead a discussion of where water is being wasted and how this could be avoided.
  - - - Activity: There will be 3 clear cups that are filled with water. One of the cups will be filled with hot water, one will be filled with room temperature water and the last will be filled with ice cold water. An ice cube will be placed in each of the cups. Each student will receive a sheet of paper with some questions - What do I think will happen? Why do I think this will happen? I saw ___ happen. - The students will have to fill the first two questions out before the experiment takes place so they can predict what will happen. Once the experiment has taken place, they must fill out the last statement to explain what happened. After the experiment has taken place, the water should be used to water the plants. This reinforces the idea of water wastage.
- - - - Activity: Students are to create a map of everywhere that the drop goes throughout the book. Each place must be included and a small picture must be illustrated at each point alongside the name.
- - - - Activity: Students will be given an outline of a drop. Using different materials such as paper, cotton wool and cellophane, they are to decorate the raindrop.
    - - Development of artistic skills through experimentation with: shape (symmetrical shapes, simple tessellating shapes), colour (warm, cool colours), line (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, spiral; lines that show motion), space (overlapping to show depth; horizon line), texture (different man-made and natural material) to create artwork (ACAVAMM107)
        
        Activity: Students are the make a unique rainbow. Students can chose to use warm or cool colours but they cannot use both. The rainbow will therefore not look like a rainbow that we will see in real life.
  - - - Exploration of, and experimentation with, the elements of music through movement, body percussion, singing and playing instruments to create music ideas (ACAMUM082)
        
        Activity: students are create a song that they think will make the drop come out of the cloud. They can use different instruments if they wish or they can just use their voice as an instrument. This activity is to be done in groups of 5.
- - - - Activity: Students are to complete a dot-to-dot puzzle that counts up in threes. Once all the dots have been created, you will see that the dots form a cloud. The cloud can then be coloured in and decorated.
    - - Activity: students will be given the numbers of the average weekly rainfall from each season. The four numbers must then be rearranged from the smallest to the biggest number. Once they have completed this, they must guess which season each number belongs to. Ask questions like, what season does it rain the most?
    - - Activity: a code must be cracked by solving simple addition and subtraction. Each answer will correlate to a letter which can be used to solve the word "rainbow"
