Mrs Jordan is a loving mother who is in tears and sorrow because she knows she will use her son yet she keeps it in to spend the most time with Dickie.

Dickie is a really intelligent kid. He is 12 years old and is filled with curiosity, he has a lot of potential but unfortunately this gets him executed .

The first conflict is between the father and the mother. Mr Jordan had hope that their kid (dickie) will be alright after the government test but Mrs. Jordan was scared to lose her son which caused a minor argument .
Another Conflict that takes place is between dickie and the government , because of Dickie's curious and intelligent character the government executed him.The government did this so Dickie doesn't question the ways the government functions.
