What is Culture?
What will happen if we don't pass on our traditions and customs to generations?
Will they remember their traditions and customs when they are arriving to another land?
Why have my grandparents scarificed to leave there homeland to go to another land?
They have scaficied leaving there homeland to live a better life. If it wasn’t for my grandparents to come to New Zealand, then I wouldn’t be living here in New Zealand, or won’t even exist if my grandparents didn’t come from the Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, and Germany. So I thank my grandparents for sacrificing there own homeland to come to another land that they have had to sacrifice some traditions and customs that they had to leave behind.
What if you lose your traditions and customs? What would be the scariest thing of losing it?
They will remember there traditions and customs because, if they forget who they are then there is no use of knowing your identity. They will only use some traditions and customs but most of there traditions and customs they have left behind in there own homeland. People tend to forget there identity and who they truely are.
What happens when old traditions and customs are forgotten?
If you lose your traditions and customs it will mean nothing to us because we do not understand what the meaning behind it is. The scariest thing of losing it is that you will lose your identity and what your identity means to you.
We should take personal responsibility to pass on our tradions and customs. If we don’t preserve and share any of our traditions or customs, they will be forgotten and the importances of our culture cannot be functioned anymore, because our culture will then have no meaning behind who we are.
If there was no traditions and customs, how is a culture functioned?
If there were no traditions and customs, than we won’t understand the meaning of having an identity of a culture. We won’t understand the relevance of having a culture where you don’t know what is happening and why.
When traditions and customs are changed, what will the effect be?
The effect will be big, because if we let any of our traditions or customs change that will then leave a gap to create new traditions and customs. If we then create new traditions and customs, we will need to share what these new traditions and customs are liked, and how it works and functions.
If one tradition or custom changes, what will be the effect of the whole culture be?
If one tradition or custom changes, then that tradition or custom will be forgotten and no one will ever know any of the traditions or customs that have changed. Then won’t even know the truth about there traditions and customs.
When old traditions and customs are forgotten, we can ask our grandparents what they have lived and is trying to pass on to us. But when something is forgotten, it will be hard to re-live these traditions and customs that has already died out. It’s that east to forget your culture but it’s hard to live your culture that is already gone.
